The World Is Okay With “Christians” That Are Not Christian

It has probably come to your attention that the purple haired, rainbow flag wearing, accepting church in town gets along pretty well with the world. The world seems to be okay with their existence. And they get the applause of the rainbow coalition. Even the man cosplaying as a hooker and trying to read books to children love them. By the way, why do men that pretend to be women dress like prostitutes?

There is a reason for this applause. And it’s plainly obvious. When the sexual deviants are having a parade in your city, it is those purple haired, rainbow flag wearing, accepting church members that are at the front of the parade holding a banner about love being love. Rather than confronting the world’s sinfulness, they confirm the world’s sinfulness, wrap their arms around the world’s sinfulness, and they tell the people held captive by the world’s sinfulness that the really mean Christians out there talking about sin and judgment are self-righteous hypocrites.

This is not the way of Jesus, nor is it the way of His people.

Jesus and the Woman at the Well

Few stories captivate us quite like the woman at the well. It is a beautiful story of redemption and grace. But if you are paying attention, it is also a story about Jesus confronting sin so that this woman could find grace.

There are many lessons that we can take from this interaction. But I have a definite point that I am making here. And it’s one that is very important. Jesus showed her the good news of the gospel by first revealing to this woman that she was a wretched sinner.

Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” (John 4:16-18 ESV)

Jesus already knew the sin that this woman was in. She had been married five times and was currently living with a man she was not married to. Rather than sit beside this woman and confirm her in her sin, Jesus did something very different. He pointed her to the Law and showed her that she was a sinner in rebellion against God.

Only then could she turn from her sinfulness and trust in Jesus. Only then could she go and declare Jesus to her town.

And this is a pattern that is seen quite often in her life.

Jesus Ate With Sinners

Anytime a person speaks in the manner that I have today, someone will inevitably say, “Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners.” Yes, He did. And we should do the same today as well.

But Jesus didn’t eat with tax collectors and sinners, tell them that they are doing really great by breaking God’s Law, tell them to keep on sinning, and say that it’s really okay to live however you want to live the rest of the world will just have to conform to your every whim. That’s not what He did. He ate with them. He spent time with them. He cared for them. And He called them to repentance.

In Luke 5 the Pharisees grumble about the fact that Jesus ate with sinners. Jesus’s answer to them clears this matter up immediately. He says plainly what I’ve already stated above. He ate with them and called them to repent.

And the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:30-32 ESV)

The UnChristlike Receive The Praise Of Darkness

And here is the point of this article. The rainbow flag-waving churches that are loved by the world are not acting Christ-like at all. As they confirm people in their sinful lifestyles, they act in a way that Jesus did not. As they lead the way at the Pride Parade, they are acting in opposition to Jesus, whom they profess to follow. As they receive accolades from the rainbow coalition, they oppose Christ and the gospel. As they act completely unchristian, they receive the applause of those enslaved sexual deviants, along with the rest of the world. The darkness loves them a lot. The darkness loves the darkness.

The Christlike Receive The Hatred Of The Darkness

Enemy #1 at a Pride Parade is a Christian with a Bible. That’s the person that will be yelled at and spit upon in those dark places. But it is that person that is calling people out of the darkness and into the light of Christ. Pride Festivals now train individuals to be a buffer between those individuals and the crowd in order to keep who they deem hateful people away from the crowd. And of course, the man preaching at one of these is deemed hateful.

But why do they preach? If the intentions are good and right, and I assume most of them are, then it is to see people come to Christ. It is to see people become their brothers and sisters in Christ through the finished work of Christ. It is to, like Jesus, call people to repent and turn to Him.

Concluding Thought

Christian, don’t be discouraged when the world thinks you’re a hateful bigot because you believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. Don’t be discouraged when you are called hateful because you believe that a man dressed like a prostitute and reading to children is a perversion that should never take place.

Understand that the world hates you because you call sin a sin.

Love and care for your neighbor. Eat with them. Help them. Be kind to them. But do not reject the way of Christ at this point. Do not confirm their sinfulness and rebellion. Call them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
