In Maryland a group of parents from a wide range of religious beliefs wanted their children to be able to opt out of LGBTQ themed instruction. And there was a legal battle that went all the way to the Supreme Court. And the parents won.

The ruling simply states that parents have the right to opt their children out of certain things because parents have the right to direct the religious upbringing of their children. So, according to the Supreme Court, your 8 year old doesn’t have to hear about sex, fornication, and sodomy if you don’t want that to happen. And neither does your 15-year-old.
Here is a quote from SCOTUS Blog about the ruling and Samuel Alito’s comments, who wrote for the majority.
Notice that no one is saying that everything is dictated by the parents. But they do have the right to opt out of certain things due to their religious convictions.
In this case it was propaganda that promotes acceptance of deviant sexual behavior. Obviously, Christians have a real problem with that along with all the ancient religions.
What is Education? Propagation Vs Propaganda
It was only recently that people began to think that education was just about teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic. For most of human history we’ve understood that education is about more than that.
Education is about forming people.
C.S. Lewis discussed this in a profound way in his book The Abolition of Man. In it he discusses the fact that education is about giving people a proper understanding of the world. In there he quoted Aristotle’s view of education, which is the view of education that held true for most of human history.
Aristotle says that the aim of education is to make the pupil like and dislike what he ought.

In fact, he goes on to discuss the change in education.
The difference between the old and the new education being) in a word, the old was a kind of propagation – men transmitting manhood to men; the new is merely propaganda.

The difference in these two ideas makes all the difference in the world. And is, in part, why so many people homeschool today. It is certainly why we do in our home.
Education has, for most of history, been about forming people. As an overwhelmingly Protestant society, our education has historically been to form good Protestant Christians. In fact, America was so Protestant that Roman Catholics were not comfortable placing their children in American schools. So they made their own.
Protestants wanted to propagate Protestant children. And Roman Catholics wanted to propagate Roman Catholic children. And that is how education has historically worked. They weren’t coming up with something new to teach. They were building upon the past work that was used to create them and passing it to the next generation.
That’s a far cry from the rainbow flag wearing teacher at a Public School. That person, and many others, does not like the past. They want to pave a new way. And they do so by acting like education is amoral. They attempt to remove the morality from education.
“We just teach Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.” is code for we’re going to attempt to trans your kid when you’re not looking. They have a morality that they are pushing. And if you give much thought to it at all then you’ll understand that this is a revolutionary act. Rather than building upon the past, it’s a chopping down and burning of what came before to teach something new.
This revolutionary act turns education into propaganda rather than forming people according to what is true.
Think about why many of our children today can’t define what a man is or what a woman is. Is it not because people within the educational system discarded the received wisdom of the past and replaced it with something new.
That’s a revolutionary act that parents shouldn’t be forced to participate in. And it’s a revolutionary act that must be squashed or else the coming generation will be destroyed.
Can Education Be Amoral?
I don’t believe that there could ever be such a thing as an amoral education. There will always be actions or activities that are taught even if it’s not part of the attempted curriculum.
Here’s what I mean.
Let’s suppose you are going to teach a child how to read. You get through the ABC’s and teach them the alphabet song. And then you move to reading stories. Which stories do you read?
Are there stories that don’t teach any morality? Not really. Stories convey something. And this thing they convey teaches children.
Does this story have two dads? Does it have a traditional family?
What do the people eat in the story?
Is bravery and courage required to do actions in the story?
And it doesn’t end with reading fictional books.
When a person reads history, the dissemination of facts is important. But history is more than that. It is the story about our past. How is that story told? Who is portrayed as the hero? Who is portrayed as the villain?
Again, it is not possible to educate your children without giving them some morality.
But, traditionally thinking, that’s not what anybody really thinks education is. We’re not a meat robot that just has information inputted. We are people. And because of that we are capable of much more than a computer or robot. But we must undergo years of training. We must be formed. We must be educated.
Ready for Action
Parents, if your child is in a Public School setting, you have the right to exclude them of anything that would be against your Christian beliefs. But that is something that you need to be keeping up with. You have to be monitoring what is being taught and even keep ahead of it to do so.
If your child is in public school, then you’d better stay in the know. You’d better keep ahead of things. When that teacher with purple hair and a rainbow colored classroom starts to teach your children about the goodness of sodomy, you’re not gonna want your child in the room. The Supreme Court just ruled that you can have your child be excluded from Sodom Show and Tell and Gomorrah Story Time.
And that’s a good thing.
