A Possible Return to Sanity is on the Horizon: The Supreme Court Could Overturn Gay Marriage in a few Months

It takes a lot of time for things to work their way through the courts. So as I type this you will possibly say to yourself “Oh yeah, I remember that.” But in 2015 the decision was handed down in Obergefell v Hodges. It gave homosexual couples the right to unite in a mirage that the State called marriage. It could never really be marriage, it doesn’t fit the definition of marriage, so I’ll stick with mirage.

In that same year a woman named Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses to a couple of sodomites that wanted the State certificate that said they were married. A legal battle ensued in which Kim Davis argued that giving marriage licenses to sodomites went against her right to freely exercise her religion.

Over the years since this happened, Kim Davis has been in court. In 2023 she was court ordered to pay damages of $50,000 per person. And she appealed. Now, in 2025 her appeal has made it to the highest court in the land. And it looks like they may take up the case.

Here is a good look at what’s happening with the Supreme Court concerning her case.

Past Events Give Me Hope

A decade ago, I would never have thought that change was possible. America was headed toward the cliffs of insanity whether we did anything or not. At least that’s how I felt. But a recent event has really changed my thinking.

Of course I’m talking about the overturning of Roe v Wade. That decision shocked me. Although, it shouldn’t have. I had gone to a few of the marches and had prayed for this to happen. But it still came as a surprise when it happened.

“Lord help my unbelief.”

And now we are at the precipice of something similar. The mirage could be destroyed and actual marriage could be upheld once again. For a while I believed it would never change. But I shouldn’t be that way.

The Times They Are A Changin’

The fact is, many things today seem to be part of a larger movement toward sanity and away from insanity. Think back to 2020 and remember how things were. Think back to 2023 and remember how that was. Consider the trajectory of the US from the early 2000’s onward. It just seemed like we were rolling down a slide and at the end of it was a pool of depravity.

I had repeatedly said that this ride couldn’t go on forever. Either we would completely fall apart or we would move toward sanity. And it seems we’re moving toward sanity.

America was mutilating genitals like sneetches adding and taking away stars at the beaches. Public schools were having fights over whether men could use the restroom with women. And the best way to sell a product was to put a 400 pound tranny in a bikini and call it beautiful.

And here is what I want you to see. There is a sense in which, as bad as things still are, the nation is itself attempting to be sane again. America is back on her meds again and attempting to live better. And by God’s grace we will.

As Christians we should have confidence that the world will progressively move toward something better.

Why Claim Defeat When Victory Is Nigh?

The Kingdom of Heaven is not defeated. It is victorious. That should flavor our thoughts on the progress of history. Its growth is small and almost imperceptible at times, and there are times when it seems to be facing sure defeat. But the Kingdom of Heaven is, in the end, victorious.

“He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭31‬-‭33‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Christians often have a defeatist attitude toward culture, myself included. And this should not be the case.

Do we believe what the Scriptures teach? Do we believe that we are like the mustard seed that starts small and eventually grows to massive size?

Do we believe that we start small and eventually infect the whole world, like leaven in a lump?

Do we believe that God works, through His Church and the power of the Holy Spirit, to make disciples of the nations?

Then why would we believe that everything is going to be bad all the time?

Why would we think that America will never be sane again?
