In our day Christians want to take Scripture out of the service in order that more people will be comfortable. The Early Church did have Scripture as the centerpiece and sometimes died for it.
What a difference between today and yesterday!
Michael Kruger wrote a great piece on the offensiveness of the Early Church’s Worship. In it he argues that
Exclusive, Christ-centered, Scripture-based worship must continue to be the heartbeat of the modern church.
