The Tension Has Boiled Over: Ferguson And Now Baltimore

Milk is found in many items that can be cooked on a stovetop, but the problem with milk is that it boils out of the pot and sometimes rather quickly. If left unattended it can make quite the mess and be difficult to clean up.

Two weeks ago, as I looked back at Ferguson I discussed racism and how we have reached the boiling point in racial tension. There is now no doubt that this is true. The things going on in Baltimore are unimaginable. It is, by all accounts, a war zone following the funeral of Freddy Gray.

This time, even though it is unclear as to what happened before he was placed in the van, the police department has had to admit that they did not get him the medical attention that he needed and asked for. There really is no excuse for this type of action, and it will likely be a while before we actually know what happened in the arrest of Freddy Gray.

This led to a massive amount of looting fires and violence. There is no excuse for the riots in Baltimore. There really isn’t. But, it is another sign that we need to pay attention to race in this country.

I have thought since Ferguson that everyone that has been saying that it was just he beginning of racial tensions were probably right. Ferguson and now Baltimore are proof that there is a massive racial divide in our country. I hope people are realizing that the pot has boiled over and it has become a mess everywhere. It is time to stop acting like there is no race problem. It’s been ignored long enough that there will be a long hard clean up ahead of us.
